As an independent family-owned jeweler, we operate a little differently than other jewelers. You’ll see the difference when we repair, renew or appraise your jewelry. With our staff of goldsmiths and jewelers, and our complete and up-to-date facilities, we do all work in-house. So you can trust us to do the work right, do it quickly, and keep your precious jewelry safe. We even provided free professional cleaning and other services most jewelers charge for. Why? Because we know that an extra measure of personalize service keeps our customers coming back again and again. That’s what built our business and continues to keep us growing.

Jewelry Repair

With our staff of experienced goldsmiths and jewelers and our state-of-the-art equipment, including our laser welding machine, we're one of the best places in the country to get your jewelry repaired.

From a simple ring resizing to bringing a virtually destroyed heirloom beautifully back to life, you can trust us to do it right. And unlike others, we do it all here in our own facility. So your special piece of jewelry gets all the care and attention it deserves. We can even do many repairs while you wait.

You can even stop in for our free three-step cleaning:

  • Our jewelers will make sure everything is secure and tight, then buff it to remove scratches and return it to a high polish;
  • then dirt is removed in an ultrasonic cleaner;
  • and finally, its steam cleaned under high pressure.

    That’s above and beyond what most people expect from a jeweler, but it’s how we’ve worked for over 50 years.

    Remounting/Restyling

    Why remount or restyle a ring? Because time and the affects of age can take a toll on even the finest piece of Jewelry. Because fashions change. Because the diamonds or gemstones in your cherished keepsake ring may deserve better than they setting they have now.

    We’re renowned for the way we turn old rings and other pieces of jewelry into stunning and contemporary works of art. We can also match your loose stones with the perfect setting, or custom make a setting for stones that don’t fit standard sizes. Select from our vast selection of solid gold, silver and platinum settings. Or let us custom make a new design.     Ring Renewal

    Ring Renew, a special Rochester Lapidary Jewelers service, returns your valuable ring to its original condition. If the gemstone(s) is scratched or nicked, we unmount the stone and repolish or facet it to remove any blemishes and restore the stone to its original beauty. If stones are missing, we’ll replace them with the same quality stones from our large selection of loose diamonds and gemstones. Plus, we make any repairs the band needs and renew the prongs if needed. Then we reset the stone. The result: Your ring is as perfect as the first time you laid eyes on it.

    Because we have the staff, the facilities and the experience, we do all Ring Renewals onsite. Many of these renewals can be done while you wait. Ring Renew is something no chain jewelers and few independent jewelers can do. It’s one more unique way we serve our valued customers.

    Appraisals

    A lot of jewelers can do appraisals of diamonds, gemstones and finished Jewelry, but few jewelers do them like Rochester Lapidary Jewelers.

    That’s because we know the details matter. Our appraisers are certified by the Gemological Institute of America and have over 50 years of experience. Their knowledge and attention to detail is unrivaled. They don’t stop with the sketchy appraisals others jewelers do, but instead provide all the information needed – grade, shape, cut, color, clarity, weight, gold, silver or platinum quality, workmanship and more – to determine the exact worth and replacement value of your diamonds, gemstones and precious keepsakes.

    We follow insurance company guidelines, in order to replace your insured jewelry if it's ever lost or stolen.

    We also have a fully operational state-of-the-art lab to grade your diamond or gemstone down to the smallest detail.

    Engraving

    The names of the bride and groom delicately etched around the curve of a champagne bottle. A family tree beautifully engraved with each person's name, birth date and sparkling birthstone.
